ANTIGE PINTIGE (ಅಂಟಿಗೆ ಪಿಂಟಿಗೆ)

ಮಲೆನಾಡು ಜಾನಪದ ಕಲೆ ಅಂಟಿಗೆ ಪಿಂಟಿಗೆ

Where festive culture meets the social uplift amidst nature
The spiritual light from the temple starts it's way during the dawn to each & every house with unique folk songs , sung by a group of villagers for every bare foot step taken to cover all villages , till the first Ray of morning sun light.

There's a song for their arrival at every home, song requesting to open the door , song to accept the light , song for newly wedded couple, song to bless them & song to leave the house.
The team consists of 2 groups, one group will have core singers (usually 2 to 3) and other group will give chorus (any number) and it goes like this.... "Soveru saangaiah soveru lingaiah sobaandhali baaro basavaiah "

There will be a change in the song & tune of singers from diff villages. We get to see this for 3 to 5 days during deepavali.

Villagers (majoritily lady of the house take the light) accept the holy light into their house & in return offer rice , arecanut, jaggery, cash etc. These offerings are raised as a fund & utilised for the betterment of the govt schools , local temples, villages or any social cause.
There's absolutely no caste , creed , colour , religion coming their way during the house visits - All in one celebration called by the name Antige Pintige.

We are blessed to experience this Janapadha art & tradition in the malenadu region & we wish the tradition of singing Antige Pintige in deepavali continues.
